The Langá á Mýrum is 36 km long with 93 named pools. Langá is a typical Icelandic salmon river offering technical fishing with small flies and boast outstanding beauty. This river has been fished by the British since the early 1900’s, and has had a huge amount of work done to it in terms of fish ladders and other devices to improve its course for salmon to run.

The Langá fishes 12 rods in July and August, and then reverts to 10 rods in September. To make all the pools accessible roads have been built so fishermen can drive to within 50 yards of every pool. Therefore young and old anglers can safely and with ease enjoy fishing all the pools. The river represents classic Icelandic salmon fishing as the hard Laval rock bands have created fantastic pools and runs.

Langárbyrgi is one of Icelands most luxorious Fishing Lodge with 12 double rooms with private bathrooms, 2 sitting rooms, dining room and high speed wireless internet connection. The best chefs in Iceland are recruited to ensure that our guests are thoroughly pampered, and the food is simply outstanding.

2178 salmon caught in 2010
Even though we had little water most part of the summer which made it very difficult for the anglers we manage to get the sixth best year ever in Langa and 3 years in a row over 2000 salmon which is great depending on little water and warm summer.
The fishing started with a great boom and in we caught 173 salmon (84 in 2009) and beginning of july the fishing was great. Then the water level start falling fast and fishing was challecing. A lot of fish was running this summer and to the last day of fishing anglers where getting fresh fish.

The raining did not start until the day after the last day of fishing so anglers which where fishing in the fall had also little water. 1400 salmon had gone up the salmon steps in Sveðjufoss and up to the mountain beat, but only 494 where caught so we have close to 1000 salmon spawning in the river this winter. :)

Now it has been snowing in Iceland and it looks better when you look up to the mountains and lets hope we will have a lot of water and we will always have a lot of salmon in Langa.
